About Our Car:
Spark Mk2 is the Phoenix Racing Team's competition car for the 2024-25 FSGP season. The car was designed in the Fall of 2024 to bring improvements in every area. The construction of the car began in the winter semester of 2025 and finished in the beginning of summer. At the FSGP competition we arrived with a car that had run over 100 miles in shakedown testing, which allowed us to focus on scrutineering from the start. The momentum gained through our hard work in preparation allowed us to gain Pole Position #2, where we were the first SOV (Single Occupant Vehicle) to complete the scrutineering process. As of writing, we are getting ready to compete and we hope to bring home the trophy on July 6th.

The Clean Sheet Approach
After competition, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to have a clean slate for the upcoming competition. With an influx of new members at the beginning of the new school year, we were able to utilize the new talent to iterate on designs quicker and finalize our designs at the beginning of the winter semester.

January-May 2025
Brick by Brick
The building process began with the frame being assembled piece by piece over the course of the spring semester. The body team was working in parallel with frame to begin sizing of the body and building molds for our body to sit in. The electrical team began the preparations of our battery box and testing of array panels and batteries upon arrival from suppliers.

May - June 2025
Jigsaw Falling into Place
As competition crept closer, we finished our body in the mold and sculpting the sections to attach to the frame and other sections. The electrical team spent many nights working on the battery, whether that was making custom wire harnesses for the battery monitors, or optimizing layouts for the power delivery system. The car was finalized in late June, where we then took it for a shakedown test before going to FSGP 2025.

A Good Start
After passing multiple scrutineering checkpoints the day prior, we entered FSGP 2025 Scrutineering Day 2 extremely optimistic. Every station left was something that we had prepared for heavily. We went through the remaining tests with a few hiccups but came out unscathed and earned the FSGP 2025 Pole Position #2, which is reserved for the SOV vehicle that finished all scrutineering stations with a green or blue mark at every station.
